Social Committee: Information for incoming chair
Update: 1 November 2025
Monthly:
- John Barrett will send a budget update email before the HOA meeting.
- A new calendar needs to be put up on the bulletin board. Residents are expected to make note of their own events using common spaces at the Tate. An email reminder is appreciated but not required. People forget to do this and some negotiations may need to be handled to keep the peace.
- Residents are supposed to date all bulletin board events posted but most do not. Clean up the board once a month.
- The hall table needs to be cleaned off regularly. If items are not removed in several days, they can be disposed of.
- Send a Tate email the Sunday before the Friday at five to announce the upcoming event. Send information before the announcement to Locey Pfeifer so she can post flyers in the elevators, stairwells and bulletin board.
- Send Locey Pfeifer any requests for flyers. She is amazing! She sometimes needs ideas to keep the frames full.
- Locey Pfeifer buys and arranges flowers regularly. She keeps receipts and turns them in two or three times a year. $500 is what it is taking this year, a $100 increase.
- When you get receipts for reimbursements, fill out a form and take it to Bennett for payment. You can have the requester fill out the form, bring it to you to get signed by either the HOA treasurer or chair, and give it back for them to send in. If you are not part of the process you can get some unpleasant surprises in the budget.
- Diane Bishop handles the Speaker Series. She does an awesome job!
- Library needs new workers and a system to rotate books so we have enough room.
- New resident meet and greet: The first one was a success. In 2025 we have six new residents coming up, some renters. Caution in starting a new tradition we then feel obligated to continue. This doesn’t have to look the same every time or be regularly scheduled.
January through June: Friday at 5 on the third Friday
Cloth napkins and plates in the drawers in the LFG kitchen. Folding chairs stored in LFG cupboards. Forks and spoons I. The far left cupboard under the counter.
July
- July 4 Ice Cream Social. We usually get four half gallons of ice cream and several types of berries and toppings. An ice chest is needed to keep the ice cream cold.
- Friday at 5 as usual
August and September
- Paella party and Potluck. Robert Davis is contacted in July with several dates that work for us. He chooses the one that works for him, buys all the ingredients and makes the paella. What a guy! He turns in his receipts for reimbursement.
- The paella party and potluck require a more concerted effort to get people to sign up so we know how many to plan for. Setup on the terrace needs more muscles. We have a large round table on the sixth floor in the hall closet, the small round table in the north stairwell, a small rectangular table in the common storage area needing a key, and the larger rectangular table behind the bathroom door in the LFG.
